Leo Lionni wrote and illustrated more than 40 highly acclaimed children’s books. He launched his career as an author and illustrator in 1959 with Little Blue & Little Yellow, inspired by a story he had improvised on the spot to entertain his young grandchildren during a long train ride. He was a four-time Caldecott Honor Winner and his signature style of bold colors and nature-inspired collages accompanied by toddler-friendly tales has won him a cherished spot in the hearts of children of all ages throughout the world.
